Poll

Let's hear about last week's poll. I love to find out why people picked the month they picked to get married.

I'm a bit surprised that December had almost as many votes as June. I wonder why that is??

Brad and I got engaged in November. Our first thought was to get married in March over Spring Break, but my mom was going to Israel and begged us not to do that to her. LOL! We didn't want to wait until the summer, so we decided to go for December. It was pretty low key since we were only engaged for a month and it took a lot of people by surprise. And since we got married in Denver, it snowed after we finished taking our pictures. We will be celebrating 10 fabulous years this December.

We got married in December during MSI because he had a two week break and we didn't want to wait until summer! Got married on a Friday night, he was back in class on Tuesday morning. Fourteen years this December! I will say, though, that December anniversaries kinda stink. It's such an afterthought and quite anticlimatic after the craziness of the holidays.

My husband and I were both starting school in the Fall, so we planned to marry during the Summer prior. I live in FL and my mom begged me to do it in May, before hurricane season! We chose Memorial Day weekend to make it easier for travel, and we plan to celebrate our anniversary on that weekend every year!

We got married in May... we're Jewish, so we can't get married on the Sabbath, which meant that we, like every other Jewish couple we know, got married on the Sunday of a three-day holiday weekend. We did it on the Sunday of Memorial Day, a week after he graduated medical school and 3 weeks before he started his intern year. It did mean we got to take a 3 week honeymoon, though. :)

I always pictured a Fall wedding, but we ended up choosing June between MSI and MSII because he had the whole glorious summer off. (I should have known then how much his profession would dictate our lives!) We took a fantastic five-week backpacking trip through Europe as our honeymoon.

We wanted to get married when it was warm. May was the first month that qualified in Indiana. (Med school wasn't even a consideration at that time. He didn't start until 5 years later.)

Ian and I decided to get married at the end of May because it was close to his med school graduation. He is from Canada, so we wanted his family to be able to attend both the wedding and the graduation in one trip. We were married in Washington, DC and he graduated from Ohio State! We will celebrate one year this May!

When we got engaged Drew was still waiting to hear on med schools - we knew that because one ended MS1 at the end of May and another started M2 in July that we only had the month of June to plan a wedding. And there was only one weekend open at our reception venue which determined the date for us! We did cut it close though, Drew had to take his last MS1 exam, get in the car, and drive 7 hours to make it just in time for our rehearsal dinner!

We too got married in December because it was a break between semesters in school! Celebrating 6 years coming up. We like to give each other "Christmaversary" gifts! :)

We got married in December 2001. I graduated from college one week and we got married the week right afterwards! We just couldn't wait any longer.

We got married in June. We've always had a thing for the numbers 6 and 21 (our birthdates), and had thought about planning for June 21st. But it was a Friday, and an overwhelming number of people were coming from over 700 miles away for the event, so we postponed a day to June 22.

We got married during the summer between undergrad and MSI. We had about 7 weeks after finals to unwind, and then finalize wedding plans.

We got engaged in October and married in July...just a week before my husband started medical school. Looking back, it would have been nice to get married earlier in the summer, but we were waiting until our leases were up on our individual apartments so we weren't playing a third rent payment in a third city.

We chose October because we wanted the fall colors for our pictures. Hubby was MSII at the time. A sympathetic scheduler arranged for him to have his five week block of Ambulatory Medicine in Sept/early Oct, leaving the last 3 weeks of Oct free. Worked out great except that he got a respiratory infection from one of his patients in clinic which he promptly gave to me. We were both feeling pretty well by the big day, but I didn't finish my course of antibiotics until halfway through our honeymoon!
