I thought I would comment really quick since I recently changed my blog from public to private. I hated doing it because I felt like I do have to alienate some (since Blogger only allows 100 readers). We had an incident where people that had not been in contact with for over a decade were all of sudden commenting on my children's photographs and other information that wasn't significant since we weren't connected at all with them. It was as if they just googled our family's name and found our blog...we had not disclosed it or been in touch with them. It just frightened me and there is somewhat of a coincidence since my husband is now a physician...It was sort of like people coming out of the woodwork when you win the lottery.

I have a public one, but I have pictures of my kids on a private one. Once a picture is out there, you can't undo it and that makes me nervous, especially after some of the searches that people used to get to my blog. It is sad because I like to be open, but I can't think of a better way to do it.
