What is?

What is your beauty routine?

The reason I ask is because I basically dont have one. Everytime I am going to go out and have to wear makeup it stresses me out since I never do it but I hate to go to the hospital to visit my hubby without it.

I'm not a huge makeup girl, and I usually only wear it for special occasions or times when I need to dress up. My regular daily routine includes washing my face with a cleanser, applying an anti-aging serum (morning and night) and applying a moisturizer with SPF (morning only). My preferred cleanser is by Philosophy (Purity Made Simple), and the serum and moisturizer are both by Guerlain. They're all pretty pricey, but since I don't spend much on other makeup (unless I really need it) and my skin's so sensitive, I feel like I can afford to spend money on the stuff that will keep my skin youthful! If I need to wear makeup, I put on a minimal amount of concealer where needed (especially on my under-eye circles!), eye shadow in a brown shade, mascara, and neutral lipstick/lip gloss. I think I can get my makeup on in less than 10 minutes!

I am with you on that. I do not have a beauty routine at all. Sometimes if I am really wanting to be glamorous, I through on some foundation and eye shadow, but that is only for special occasions... which as we all know, med student spouses don't get all that often!

Mostly with 3 kids, I just don't have time to do anything else. Add on working and there really isn't time of anything for myself...the kids get it all!

I'm so glad I'm not the only one! I really just started wearing make up again in November. I have a good friend that sells MaryKay and she got me hooked. She totally had to teach me how to wear make up though, since I hadn't worn it for so long!

My biggest issue is the thing I have tried break me out. I tried Bare Minerals, Mineral Fusion, and Dual Finish Lancome all made me break out. Now I use the Mineral Powder from Physicians formula but I am not sure if its enough.

How do you ladies do that? I'm toooo scary looking to leave the house without concealer, powder, blush, lip gloss, eye shadow, and mascara! I use Mary Kay for when I'm really going for a glamorous look, but other than that I use Clean and Clear Morning Burst face scrub, then the Morning Burst Lotion with SPF, then on goes the concealer, to cover up my black circles around my eyes. I then use Mineral Wear powder, top it off with blush, and chapstick and then some lip gloss. If I don't put on eye shadow and mascara, I look asleep all day and Tom asks if I'm feeling bad, hehe.

I always had friends in college and even now that don't wear make-up everyday of even do their hair, they either pony-tail it, or just brush it, but I've never had a straight from bed good hair look or face. I do envy those people because of ease, but I really like to be put together at all times. Tom appreciates it and it gets me going for the day.(and it only takes 5 minutes plus like another 2 minutes to do my hair) I won't even go outside around the neighborhood without doing this basic morning routine. To each his own and I know we are all beautiful enough to go without make-up, but for some of us, it really helps! :)

I almost always wear foundation and blush. I usually put it on when I get to work. Takes about 2 minutes.

For foundation, I really like Maybelline Dream Matte Mousse. It covers like a cream/liquid but feels light like a powder. It also doesn't have spf in it, so if you're going to be taking pictures, you're good to go. (For every day, though, wear some kind of sun screen underneath! :))

I use a real blush... I forget which brand. I usually just walk into a department store, find the counter that's "in gift", and tell them to make me up. I find a product that I like and get a bunch of freebies to try out as well. That's usually how I get whatever lip color or mascara I wear.

However, if I want fantastic eyelashes that won't smudge. at all., I use Maybelline Lash Stylist waterproof mascara. Now, it's very difficult to remove. But it looks amazing and lasts all day...and night...and the next day...

My sorority pledge mom used it on me for my wedding (she's fantastic with make-up).

If I'm going to do color, I'm far more likely to do my eyes than my lips. Nothing fancy needed for eye shadow, just a range of colors. If I tried to explain, I'm sure you'd all be picturing me looking like a clown, so we'll just have to wait until the doctor wives slumber party where I'll show you. :-p

what i think it really comes down to is fantastic skin! if your skin looks good, then you can skip foundation and blush...so i would get a great skin care routine...i worked at a medical spa for a couple of years and learned alot...always wear spf no matter what! but, besides that? i only wear mascara and eyeliner when necessary lol! i really should wear it all the time cause i feel so much prettier with makeup..but it's like "who is going to see me besides the kids?" so, i usually skip...i will be getting into skin care into a big way when hubby starts bringing in the bux, in a few months, i have been neglecting myself for a long time...as most of us have.

so, all that to say...use mascara and eyeliner for sure...skip foundation and blush and just use a simple powder for your face. easy-peasy...you can experiment with eye shadow etc when you have more time/money.

cheers! amber

I hate makeup - I never wore it during the day before I started working - I only wore it for special occassions. But now that a) I work and b) ever since I've been on birth control it makes my skin break out, I wear it. But I just wear under eye concealer (major dark circles here) and then wear an estee lauder (spelling?) powder and bronzer. Thats it! And on special occassions I wear the eye shadow, lipstick and mascara.

I break out badly if I don't use my Benzoyl Peroxide. I am just thankful I can buy it for really cheap at Walmart in their Equate Brand. It's the same ingredient in Neutragena On the Spot Acne Treatment, but it is only about $2.50 a tube and one tube will last me at least 2-3 months. I use this and I also do the St. Ives Apricot scrub daily in the shower...and also Noxema Black head cleanser as a daily cleanser morning and night.

Makeup-wise I use it sparingly. I put on my Avon Mineral makeup (regular foundation breaks me out) about 3 times a week when I am signing up new ladies to sell Avon for my District Mgr. When I do that I will sometimes use eyeliner and eyeshadow...I almost always forget my lips.

Skincare: Besides my cleaning regimen--I rotate through several of various anti-aging Avon products. I have a couple that I really like, but what I am using right now I am going to switch. I liked what I used before better.

CeraVe lotion first. Then clinique spf 50 (fountain of youth in a bottle). Revlon colorstay foundation. Brush on powder, brush on blush, L'oreal Voluminous Mascara (the best on EArth), L'oreal coco eyeliner, covergirl eyeshadow is the BEST, Colorstay lipcolor by Revlon in Faithful Fawn.

Get your self all smokin' hot and grab the kids and a plate of cookies and hit the hospital once a week!!!!
