Poll - Did you sign a prenup?

The new poll is up.

I have a question, should we discuss the poll the week it is up or after it is closed?

I didn't sign a prenup, but neither of us had a thing but an old car each when we got married.

My best friend, however, signed a prenup when she married her husband in his 2nd year of medical school.

In her case it was a very good idea. She inherited tremendous wealth, which she supports them with. He was planning on going into surgery at the time.

The prenup protects her wealth from any lawsuit that may be made against him professionally or personally.

In essence, it protects them BOTH and helps ensure their financial security.

We didnt sign one. However, when we got married I was working and he was studying for USMLE so if anything I would have made him sign one ;)

We didn't because neither of us had significant assets at the time we got married (right before MS2). I would highly recommend it, though. I think they're a very good idea.

Obviously you hope you'll never need to use it, but it's good to have a plan just in case to protect both parties. Also, I imagine divorces are very emotionally straining events. The last thing I would want to do during that time is add to the emotional distress by messing around with a messy legal proceeding.
