Superstitious?

My husband has got to be one of the most logical people I have ever met but I think residency has made him very superstitious. For example, if he is on call, I am not allowed to ask him if it is a slow day. He also has lucky articles of clothing that he wears for difficult cases.
I just find this kind of funny because there is no scientific merit to these actions or beliefs, yet my super smart husband feels so strongly about them. I wonder if this is just a doctor thing.

JumpingJane said...: I have heard of these kinds of superstitions, but J and I have yet to fall into them. I mentioned his pager the other night, and was like... so now that I mentioned it, all hell is going to break loose huh? And then it didn't. I think my only belief is, only the nights we need to be quiet are horrible, and the other nights are always quiet. Beth Hollenbeck said...: Yes! DrH used to always "shhhh" me when I asked if it wass busy when he was on call. I don't inquire anymore about anything when he is on call. I wait for him to initiate the conversation!
