Lives of Doctor Wives: Last Poll

Last Poll

So I thought we might want to discuss our last poll a little. Not to be nosy, but who wanted 8+ children??? Even 5-7 would scare me, so I'm just curious.

Our goal has always been 4, but we have discussed that if baby #3 ends up being another boy, that we would probably just adopt a little girl. I'm already the only girl in our household, with a hubby, 2 little boys, a male cat and male dog.....I'm wayyyyy out numbered!!

If you want to, feel free to share your story!!

I have 2 boys (7 & 5) and a girl (2). I would like one more though. I guess it remains to be seen if it is in the cards... :o)

I chose 2. I would like to have one with my husband, as well as adopt one. I currently have 3 fur babies right now! My cats are really my lil boys. :)

I choose 3. I would have been satisfied with 2 (we have one girl and another due in 3 weeks). The hubby wants 4 so we will (probably) compromise with 3. I wouldn't mind adopting one or two more children down the road.

I would like to have three. My husband is okay with the number we are at now (2 girls), but will welcome a thired. I love having my girls closer in age and am at a point right now with my second daughter, where I may want to start trying again. I just dont know if we want to just be moving to a rental for a year (hand fellowship) with a newborn...I don't even know where we will be living in less than a year from now. The unknown is exciting, yet stressful...especially when you are a planner.

I want 4! I've got two right now. Girl almost 8 months and boy 22months. I'd love to have twins in a couple years so that I only have to be pregnant one more time! ;)

I think I missed that poll. Oops. Anyway, my vote would've been 3 (JM wants 4). We have one 16 month old boy already. I was a c-section mama with him (thank you, 42 weeks of pregnancy!) and I do not want to do THAT recovery multiple times with other little children running around and no one to help out. So I guess how many we have will depend on what happens with #2... we'll see how it goes.

I'm stuck with all boys, too! 2 boys and a male dog. We want one more child, but I like the idea of adopting a little girl if my next one is a boy, too. Great idea! Now if someone will just tell me if we should have #3 3rd or 4th year or residency?!?! I refuse to 5th since we will be preparing for a move. I guess a higher power has more to do with that than me, so I shouldn't say "refuse." ;)

HEHE!!! So funny Beth! JLee I have SOOOOO said that a million times, twin girls would be so nice, then we would be done, but then I think, OOOOHHH that would be scary too, two babies at once, don't know if I'm up to it.

No children yet, but I'd prefer 1 and my husband would prefer 2. Because I have the more demanding career out of the two of us, he'll be the one taking care of the children, running errands, etc., so if he's okay with double the work, then I'll go along!

As far as the twin comments, everyone I know who has had twins has said it is easier than having two children separately because the twins can entertain each other. I wouldn't mind twins and just getting the childbearing part out of the way all at once!

I would like 4, my husband would like more (5 because he's the fifth child). For me the ideal situation is 2 girls, 2 boys because people tend to pair off and nobody would be left out. I was the only girl with five brothers, so I know the feeling of being the odd sibling out---but I know gender can't be controlled! We don't have kids yet because we're both in school, but we look forward to it!

My sister-in-law had 6 kids before my brother-in-law finished residency! (Their philosophy was have them all quickly = chaos:) So if they could do it financially (there was a lot of credit card debt because they had two mortgages for a year), I'm convinced anyone can do it. Maybe not easily and not without debt, but it's possible.

My vote was for 4 kids. I am #2 of 4, by my DH is one of 2. He is MSIII and I think we are going to start trying soon...I just hate that I feel like babies/pregnancy/etc has to be planned around med school/residency. Any thoughts on this? I wish it could 'just happen when it happens'! I guess such is the life of a doctor's wife...everything is on a schedule (and usually a schedule that I don't find out until the night before/day of!).

We have a 5 year old boy and boy/girl twins who are almost three. I had them during the first of Kyle's third year of med school during CORE. Thank goodness we don't have to go back and relive that year... or the one after it for that matter! :)

It is nice to get two for one pregnancy and move two through the baby stages at once but oh my goodness. If it weren't for my mom, I don't know that I would have survived! ha!

We have twin boys who are nearly 3 yrs. old and a little girl who's 16 months old and I'm pregnant with #4. So we'll have 4 kids in 3.5 years so some people call us crazy, but I love having them all close in age. We think we might have one more after this next baby, but I think my limit is 5 kids total b/c 5 carseats are about my max in the Suburban to be able to get the kids in/out comfortably and I don't want to have to move up to one of those big commercial vans :-)
