Only a few more days...

And our spouses will be in new medical training year (for the many of us who are still in training!) I can't believe we are about to start our final year of school! We are very excited to start applying for residency - we already have our "list" of programs narrowed down! (I am just a little nervous about the expense of applying and interviewing).

What will this year bring for you?

I'm new here and just wanted to say "hi" to everyone!! This blog is very interesting and brings up some interesting points! I also wanted to ask a question, how does everyone keep up with finances and budgeting when married to a med-school student?? My boyfriend and I are discussing marriage, however, he is worried about us making it while he is in med-school -- is it do-able?? Please give advice!

Do you work? Tell us more about yourself! What year is your boyfriend?

It is definitely do-able, we've all done it, it just isn't always easy. Many of the women here are SAHM and they manage to live only on their husband's humble salaries. And most of us are taking or have taken out loans for medical school. It is all about budgeting.

Check out this thread at the International Medical Spouse Network (another great resource).

Welcome and nice to meet you!

Thank you for responding!!

I work at a photography studio -- I'm the photo editor/manager.

My boyfriend, Chris, has one more year of college left then he will (hopefully) be attending med-school fall of 2010. He is taking the MCAT next Thursday! Please keep him in your prayers!

He and I know we are going to get married someday. If it were up to me, I would marry him next summer. Which, I think would be great as far as timing. However, he would like to wait until he is about a year or two into med-school because of the financial issues that we would/will have to face, but on the other hand, he thinks we should just go for it instead of waiting. Either way, that's fine with me. He's mainly just worried about financial issues.

I currently live on my own, so I know all about living a frugal lifestyle :) However, I am moving back home with my parents so I can save money for when Chris and I start our lives together.

Thank you so much for the links! I will have to check those out when I get off work!

Nice to meet you too!

Well, hubby is now officially a PGY-4!! He is interviewing for pain fellowships at Texas Tech, U of Maryland, U of Philly(?), Johns Hopkins and already interviewed at Pittsburgh. Needless to say, July and August are crazy for us!!

On a personal note, I have decided to start my own Online Math Tutoring business. I am now on the web at www.infinityonlinemathtutoring.com

Come check it out and refer me to anyone who needs math tutoring for 6th - 12th grade through Geometry...oh, and also College Algebra. ;)

"Bert" (my oldest) starts Kindergarten this year. That's exciting for all of us. I am also going to volunteer tutor some of the 4th and 5th graders at his school once a week for an hour.

"Ernie" will start Parent's Day Out twice a week on Tuesdays and Thursdays. He is getting so big and is really wanting to do what big brother does ALL the time.

That's us in a nutshell!
