interview season...

hey ladies- have a question for anyone who might have an answer. my (soon to be) dr.h and I are trying to plan our wedding. he just realized we're going to have to change the date (to unknown) after finding out that interviews go longer than he thought. just wondering if any of you have (or know someone who) has gone through interviews for ct surgery fellowships. what was it like? does anyone know approx. when interview season begins and ends? is it crazy busy? if anyone knows, please let a very sad and disappointed girl know so she can try to set a new wedding date! thanks.

I don't know specifically about CT surgery, but from everything I have seen most interviews go from November to January. You have to turn in rank in February 24, 2010. So most schools don't interview beyond the end of January because they want to review applicants. I would say anytime in February would probably work, as long as you still have time to do your rank order list. Good Luck, and congrats. My husband is a 4th yr applying for orthopedic surgery!

Are you sure that the fellowship he is applying for is up for ranking? Ours (pain management) did not participate in the rank system. His interviews started in June and they are still going on through November and possibly later. I'm not sure because we had already accepted a program mid October.

I know that match day is in the middle of june. I also know that interviews don't start until january (at the earliest). I'm not sure about the ranking system though.

Good morning, Melissa!

You should check out Marissa's blog: http://marriedtoamedicalstudent.blogspot.com/

She and her husband are going through the interview process right now and she's documenting it. I bet you it will be a real help! I'm not there yet, but reading her posts have definitely helped me understand what the process is going to be like.

Take care, good luck, and congratulations to you and your fiance! What a beautiful thing!
