When DH decided to go to medical school, I was two years into getting my MBA. I also got pregnant around the same time, and it was very convenient to stop my MBA. I don't recall enjoying it very much.

I also gave up the option to stay at home with our kids. DH had been a high school teacher, so I'm not sure I had the option anyway.

Still, I wouldn't change a thing. DH is so much happier doing this than dealing with high school administration.

I have mixed feelings on last week's poll... while no, technically it is not unethical because patients CAN go elsewhere... has he had the sign up the entire time he has been in business that he only "wants" to treat Republican-supporting patients? If so, that's one thing, but I'm guessing the sign is relatively new. What about his existing patients he has been seeing for years -- while he stated he would not turn them away, I imagine that cannot be a comfortable situation. No one should feel the need to seek out a new doctor purely because of political differences after years of treatment.

For me, I think he should have the right to chose what payments/insurance he accepts. Professionally, I think there are more tactful ways of saying what insurance he will and won't accept, but as a business, he has a right to decide. Doctors, and patients, get so focused on the care aspect, they forget that doctors are a business too. And business shouldn't have to accept payment below what they deserve just because the government says so.
