He ended up serving on a murder trial for two days. I don't recall that he missed anything overly important. You should look on your local government's website about excused absences.

On the other side of the coin, I was called for jury duty, and they asked my husband's profession. The lawyer commented that often a spouse will pick up on things from the other spouse's occupation, and there was no doubt that I had more medical knowledge than most. He asked if I could be impartial and not talk to my husband about the details of the case. It turned out it was a very medical case, and afterwards, it was interesting to talk to my husband about it.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4733275816481882855.post-63851873831763290262009-09-25T15:15:37.941-04:002009-09-25T15:15:37.941-04:00There should a list of acceptable reasons for dism...There should a list of acceptable reasons for dismissal from jury duty on the form. Dismissal varies by state and sometimes even by county. We knew quite a few medical students at DH's medical school who had to serve jury duty during medical school, not once, but twice. E has been called to jury duty more than once but as a "student" he is still registered in our home state and being out of state is an acceptable excuse as is being a full time student. I would look into this as soon as possible to make sure what your options are. You don't want to assume that you're excused then not show up.davitahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14312032036319180896noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4733275816481882855.post-9344400168317132012009-09-23T22:56:49.936-04:002009-09-23T22:56:49.936-04:00Hmm - I did not know these things and I'm a la...Hmm - I did not know these things and I'm a lawyer.... but good to know! Have the school submit a letter, or you can write one yourself, explaining that he is a student and cannot attend. They will excuse him :)
sHpPerpetual Prephttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03085287382185879525noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4733275816481882855.post-35331185432591172222009-09-23T14:33:57.423-04:002009-09-23T14:33:57.423-04:00Umm...can he say someone in the family is a lawyer...Umm...can he say someone in the family is a lawyer?Allisonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13847045469273096618noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4733275816481882855.post-47229871736418381732009-09-23T14:19:27.543-04:002009-09-23T14:19:27.543-04:00Oh, good!
